Oh hai
there. My name is Betti Hunter, and I’m a 24 year old freelance journalist from
Cardiff. Glad to make your acquaintance.
From the first time I picked up a magenta crayon in nursery
school and penned my debut coming-of-age saga ‘The Day I Shrunk to the Size of
a Caterpillar’, I knew I was going to be a writer. Mercifully my journalistic abilities have come on in leaps and
bounds since 1991, and I now contribute features, previews and reviews to a
range of local and national publications. Those interested in checking out my slightly more professional scribblings should head over to my other blog.
I'm obsessed with style, but increasingly find myself deploring the fashion industry and its practices. For me, fashion is about creativity, not blind consumerism. That's why the majority of my clothes are either thrifted or handmade, and why I look borderline ridiculous in 85% of my posts. Fashion is fun, kids. Embrace idiocy.
I’m about
to graduate from the University of Glamorgan with a BA in Journalism and am planning
to spend this summer taking on work experience placements at NME and the Mail
on Sunday, making and selling upcycled clothes with my mother, undertaking
various freelance PR jobs and creating a gonzo journalism digital fanzine with
my esteemed friend Efa Thomas. If all else fails, I’ll be falling back on my
cocktail training and will probably be found muddling a first-rate blueberry
mojito in a fancy bar near you.
